a few thousand words

so i've always been known amongst friends as a bit of a picture taker. or, to quote my dear friend jared, "click click bloody click, dawn, that's all it ever is with you. click click bloody click." too effing bad, darling, i love taking photos. i just do. it's satisfying in this deep deep way. and so i was totally psyched when this weekend my store hosted this incredible photography workshop sponsored by the lens company Tamron. the workshop was seriously amazing- i learned so much. they sent this wonderful photograper, andre constantini, to teach us. if i was the kind of girlw ho knew how to do such things, i would like his website here. just google him, kids, he's brilliant. actually briliant. i love his dance photography and all the weird little risks he takes. it was awesome to learn from him. we spent the morning at the harbor, where there is a park and a pier and it was misty and cloudy and it had poured the night before so there were puddles for our little subjects to jump in. my friend jennie brought her adorable sons luke and max and their friend, the lovely little anna, and the three of them were the most wonderful little models. the park was full of fun things to climb on and mud puddles to jump in and one of those old-fashioned merry-go-round htings that makes everyone feel a little pukey. and there were bubbles to play with and those cool wands that make the huge bubbles. i got some cool shots of this really sweet little boy named darian blowing bubbles. i also got some good shots of sidney, the very sassy and very beautiful daughter of stacie, who was the event's coordinator. stacie is one of my customers, and i've had her in class, and she is a lovely woman (not to mention a very tlaented scrapper!), and this weekend was just such a cool experience for all of us! i'm posting a few of my favorites of the shots i got with my own camera. i'm still waiting to get the cd with the other 300 i shot with one of their big fancy cameras. and, oh, i'm so inspired! they taught me how to work my self-timer, and how to adjust aperture and some light tricks and all kinds of things. i feel more competent and slightly less like getting a good shot is a crapshoot. i just want to take pictures of everything now.
