flow
so now that my apartment is somewhat in order- at least enough so that i can clear a table- i have finally had some time and space to really, truly, for more than 10 minutes scrap. holy bananas, i forgot how much i love to do this exact form of art-making. i've missed it without even realizing how much i did. and now that i'm back, i'm friggin unstoppable. i've been psyched as a newbie... i wake up in the morning thinking about colors, layered. i've been up past 4 am the last 4 nights in a row. my fingernails are caked with ink and my hair hasn't been washed in 2 days.
and i'm just reveling in playing.
and of course, the first few things i made were kinda iffy. falling back into my old ruts. elements of cool, without actually hitting the target i was shooting for. it was almost like i had to make some crap before i could get to the good stuff. the experience kind of reminded me of when my writing teachers used to make us write for 10 mins in the beginning of class, then pull the one or two useable sentences from the gobbledygook we had to spew and throw away the rest.
so now i've had a few days back at the table under my belt. i've sought some inspo, played around with some mags adn some poems and some SiS. and i feel me coming back. i'm starting to like what i'm making. this first layout was seriously inspired by Me-isms by nisa fiin- those are some of my most compulsively uttered phrases, and i love the idea of capturing them. also, nisa's traced-squares idea was really fun as a format.
so, thanks for looking, folks. i'm gonna go do some more making of stuff. but, hey, if you're finding anything out there particularly inspiring these days, especially visually, will you link me up over here? i'm feeling seek-ish. thanks! love.
