self portrait sunday
oh, this poor neglected blog.
if it were a child, it would be would underweight,
with scabby knees and a runny nose.
so this week i have felt like my own ridiculous little vanity project. those who know me in a day to day way know i'm most comfy when messy- wearing a twirly skirt and no make-up. i'm not really one to be too into my own appearance. but in the last few years, my body's been through a lot. 16 surgeries and so much time with so little movement meant i gained a LOT of weight. and so, slowly, as i get healthier, i reclaim my own body one bit at a time. i build myself the way i want to be.
i'm leaving to go to barbados tomorrow. vacations mean photos, and barbados means beach. so i've been dreaming of real food and ingesting mostly rabbit food (plus nuts for protein and smoothies cause they're good!). i doubled up on my gym sessions with the incredible mr. mike. i got my toenails painted. i may even shave my legs! (don't worry, jare & kare. i 'm just kidding. of course i will shave my legs. can you imagine if i was that kind of lesbian? how incongruous!)
and, inspired by my dear friend kristi, i ended up getting an impromptu haircut at Bumble & bumble last friday. so very much my new favorite place. i don't care that it's their job to be that flatter-ish and nice to you- i buy their story.
i like wearing that cute little robe-uniform and being passed from one gentle set of hands to the next. my stylist was this sweet, lovely young girl named diana- she had great flavor and she was very understanding of my aversion to fussing and mussing with my 'do. plus, she likes scrapbooking!
yeah, i'm her new best customer.
so, it's 5:59am. i'm supposed to be at the gym in 6 hours. i gotta go pack and unpack my suitcase some more.
